2026 New Hampshire Jewish Film Festival

2026 Best of the Fest

Our “Audience Award: Best of the Fest” votes from the 2026 New Hampshire Jewish Film Festival are in! We are happy to announce winners in two categories this year: Best Feature Film and Best Documentary.

For Best Feature Film, the Israeli drama The Stronghold received the most votes. Based on real events that took place during the Yom Kippur War following a surprise Egyptian attack, the film follows a reserve doctor who is fighting for the lives of the wounded fighters. When calls for urgent evacuations do not come and fighting rages on, the soldiers have to choose whether to continue fighting under the orders of their commander, or to follow the plan of the reserve doctor that may save lives.

Audiences in Concord got the chance to see this outstanding movie in person at Red River Theatres. Amidst our great line-up of films, this movie winning the top prize truly shows that stories of times past continue to resonate so deeply. We congratulate the whole acting, directing, and production teams behind The Stronghold for this amazing honor!

For our Best Documentary award, we are pleased to announce that Among Neighbors was the victor among the six talented and uniquely different films we screened in this category.

Among Neighbors, which was shown at Novocure in Portsmouth and during our second week of virtual screenings, delighted audiences with its real accounts of a trying time and its use of evocative hand-drawn animation.

Focusing on one of the last living Holocaust survivors from a small Polish town, where Jews and Polish Catholics lived side by side for centuries, the heartfelt accounts shared here show how ordinary Poles made life and death choices about their Jewish neighbors, demonstrating the best and worst of human nature.

We are so pleased that we got to screen this incredible story for audiences across the state and are thrilled to bestow the production team of the film with this honor.

We were fortunate to have another great slate of movies this year! Thanks to readers like you, donors, our enormous volunteer team, sponsors, friends, and the staff and board at the Jewish Federation, we continue to thrive. We look forward to seeing you at the movies again in 2027 and hope you continue to follow us in the year ahead!

Cheers!
